The cooking class are all levels of general English and this week we visited local shops and looked at local produce. We are so lucky to live in an area where lots of fruit and vegetables are grown locally. The class researched seven recipes and then presented them with a description. We all voted for our preferred options and we chose to make a Caramelised PIneapple Curry and a Strawberry Shortcake. The strawberries were grown on a farm nearby and the pineapple was grown on a farm in Kadanga in the hinterland.
The students enjoyed giving instructions and checking information using the new vocabulary they were taught. Best of all we loved tasting the creations at the end!
Looks like we are in for a treat this month with some exciting activities to be done!

Phillip recently studied at Lexis Noosa both in general English and in an Accelerate Small Group Class. He kindly agreed to share his experiences with us. This is his story.
My stay in Noosa
My name is Philipp and I live in Switzerland. I decided to brush up on my English before starting a new job in Switzerland. I took some General English followed by an Accelerated Small Group Class. The combination of both courses was excellent. Both for meeting new exciting people and improving the language.
I chose Noosa because of its nature, beautiful long beaches and because I prefer a charming town rather than a crowded city.
When I arrived in Noosa, I was even more impressed than I had expected by how green it was everywhere. It also means that there are always colourful birds twittering and bush turkeys sometimes with cute chicks around. No wonder that the bush turkey is the symbolic animal of Noosa.
I stayed at a homestay to get the experience how Aussies live and to improve my English even more. It was a very valuable decision which I really enjoyed.
There are plenty of activities people can do in and around Noosa. After school, I usually went surfing which is a must-do in Noosa for anyone of any skill from beginner to expert.
I also went paragliding many times to fly alongside the beach or over the gorgeous National Park to experience a wonderful sunset from a bird’s eye view. That was definitively one of my greatest highlights in Australia.
A bit less adventurous but no less interesting was jogging or walking through the National Park and looking for some Koalas which were hiding in the trees.
Another amazing thing was simply the remarkable friendliness of the local people. It did not take long to get invited for a drink on the beach or even for a barbeque at their house.
That kindness is already reason enough to come back to Australia.
I am already looking forward to planning my next adventure Down Under and visiting some old friends.
