Suzie and students 2

Suzie and students

Sayaka Nagano and Mika Aruga met in 2008 whilst studying at Lexis English Noosa in teacher Suzies class. They are still best friends and returned to Noosa to celebrate ten years since their wonderful student days here. There were tears and smiles when they discovered that Suzie was still teaching here and it was a beautiful reunion. Sayaka married an Australian and has settled in Sydney working as a Kindy teacher. Mika lives in Tokyo and works as a medical engineer.  They said that they have still kept in touch with many of their international classmates and will never forget their  happy carefree days as a student in Noosa.

Thank you for coming in and sharing your story with us Sayaka and Mika.

Balloon Animal Workshop

This afternoon Lexis Noosa students enjoyed a Balloon Animal Workshop run by one of our very own students Junki from the Intermediate A class.

1

Junki runs Balloon animal workshops for his work back in Japan.

Firstly Junki talked the students through how to make the balloon animals and the history behind them. Then he moved onto the workshop where he demonstrated a step by step tutorial on how to make them.

Hope everyone enjoyed their afternoon. There were definitely many laughs coming from the group this afternoon!

Beach Safety Presentation

We hope you all learnt a lot about Australia’s beaches and what to do if you need help while swimming. Just remember no flags = no swim!!

Student Profile – Dominik from Switzerland

Dominik first came to Lexis Noosa in 2017 and studied for a few months with Charmaine in General English.  He was a great asset to have in the Cooking Option in the afternoon class. He shared his expert knowledge with the class and he improved his vocabulary about food.  After he left he went travelling to Cairns and then south all the way to Kangaroo  Island.

Photo: Dominik in Cooking Class July 2017 & a visit to Cairns in August 2017.

Dominik always had a dream to work in Europe in a group of international chefs.  He worked with world renowned chef Anton Mosmann in London making and serving food at Wimbledon Tennis and at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Photo: Dominik working at Wimbledon and Tottenham Hotspur in London.

Domink returned to Lexis Noosa in September 2018 to further improve his English and to travel some more around Australia.  He did a road trip to Agnes Water last weekend and he has more travel dreams to fulfill.

We loved seeing you again Dominik and wish you all the best for your future career. Hopefully we can visit your restaurant one day.  Your food is always amazing!

Cheese Tasting

Today our Lexis Noosa students tried 6 different types of Australian and New Zealand cheeses. I wonder what they will think?.?.?

And the winner was…… Mango and Macadamia Cheese!

KING ISLAND BLUE CHEESE – Australia

Blue vein cheese is a unique category of mould ripened cheese as it ripens from the interior, as opposed to the exterior (like soft white cheese). Blue vein has a strong tangy flavour, a pungent aroma and a smooth creamy texture.

TASMANIAN HERITAGE CAMAMBERT – Australia

Tasmanian Heritage Camembert has a wonderfully satisfying smooth, mild and delicate flavour.  Its rind has a dense, even white mould covering, with a slight mushroom aroma, revealing a silky yet firm and pale centre.

MAINLAND EPICURE – New Zealand

Our most intensely flavoured cheese – a block of Mainland Epicure cheese has a strong flavoursome bite to it and firm, crumbly texture. This makes it a memorable cheese for those who don’t compromise on taste.

KENILWORTH – Sunshine Coast

A unique blend of mango pulp and macadamia nuts. This cheese is very different and something that every cheese lover should try!

MERSEY VALLEY – Australia

Mersey Valley is Australia’s best loved vintage club cheddar! Mersey Valley vintage club cheddar was created over 35 years ago. Mersey Valley Classic has an extra strong bite, which is balanced with a crumbly melt-in your mouth texture. Mersey Valley Classic is a very versatile cheese that is perfect for a platter, as a snacking cheese or for use in cooking.

KING ISLAND DOUBLE BRIE – Australia

A flagship in the premium Black Label range. This Double Brie blends a rich, creamy Brie style cheese with the unique flora of the earthy Brevi culture to give added complexity to both its aroma and flavour. Made with high butterfat King Island milk, the result is a very special artisan cheese.

Incredible Students

Introducing one of our incredible students at Lexis Noosa, Beatrice from Pre Intermediate.

Beatrice 1

My name is Beatrice, I’m French and I have lived in Italy for 34 years.  I learned English at school a long time ago and I sometimes attended English courses.  I speak French and Italian and I’d like to be able to think in and speak English too.

Beatrice 3

I was worried about being an older student, but I am happy that my age is not a problem in Lexis. I am happy and comfortable in the school and have met some nice students.  At the moment my English is very bad, but I am sure that I am making progress with the lessons at Lexis.  I am looking forward to learning more English skills in the school.

Beatrice 2

To stay in Australia for 3 months I am going to try to get a job as a masseuse or a cleaner.  Any job will be good for me as long as I can improve my English at the same time.
