Lexis Noosa students have been busy job hunting lately. It only takes a little bit of hard work and determination to find a great job in Noosa! Marie-Zoe attended the Job workshop and received a lot of help from Sam with some great tips on how to get a job.
Where is your new job in Noosa?
My new job is at Grill’d Healthy Burgers along Hastings Street.
What do you do at your new job?
I am a waitress and help in food preparation.
Congratulations Marie-Zoe and great work on the new job!
Sam is the man when it comes to helping our students find a job!
We understand how important it is for many of our students to find employment as soon as possible after arrival. That is why we run our ‘Lexis WORKshop’ every Tuesday from 2pm to 3pm for all our full time students.
The first thing that Sam will do is to help you get a Tax File Number (TFN) and Australian Business Number (ABN). Then you are provided with a computer and Sam will help you write up a resume that suits the current Noosa work environment. He knows what information is needed and what is unnecessary. This workshop is personalised to your needs and requirements. You can print off your resumes once they are ready.
The next step is to get help with where to go, when to go and how to approach employers with your resume. You are then ready to set out on your job search. But not alone; if needed Sam is always happy to give a helping hand.
If your English is at a level good enough to try for a ‘front of house’ job such as table waiting or working behind a bar or in a cafe. In which case Sam will help you get your Responsible Service of Alcohol’ certificate.
So, good luck with your job hunting and give yourself a better chance by signing up for Lexis WORKshop.
