Eumundi markets

On Wednesday afternoon our Pre-Intermediate classes went to the Eumundi markets to do an English activity and to see the world famous food and craft markets.

Our students needed to complete the sentence and write about their experiences that they shared with each other that day.

Pre-int 9

“Yesterday we went to Eumundi markets with the class…..”

“Yesterday we went with the school to the Eumundi markets. That weather was good and we enjoyed it. After Kana walked around the markets she decided to buy a Pitaya bowl. She enjoyed the food a lot because it was very good.  Jenny decided to buy a sugar cane juice. But she didn’t enjoy it because she thought it would be a sweet flavour but it smelt like ginger. Nerea didn’t buy anything because she has been to the markets 4 times before.

We enjoyed the live music. The boy played a Didgeridoo and it was the first time we listened to traditional aboriginal music.

The experience in Eumundi market was amazing!!”

Written by Jenny, Nerea and Kana

“Yesterday we went to Eumundi Market.

We ate hot dogs, ice-cream and slinky potatoes.

But we bought nothing more.

We saw worm juice, fake ear pods and a Macaw.

We listened to Aboriginal music.

We watched caricature, finger painting , face painting and leather work.

Eumundi Market had Brazilian Tapioca food and Japanease Okonomiyaki.

There were bargains and we saw paisley print clothes.

So we spent a good time together.”

Written by Mauricio, Zoe and Erika

1. The slogan of the market is make it, bake it, sew it, grow it!

2. Yesterday we saw a macaw which is a big bird at Eumundi markets.

3. Yesterday we ate potatoes and sausages at Eumundi market.

4. Yesterday we listened to Aboriginal music.

5. Yesterday we saw Jodi the face painter.

6. Yesterday we saw Alex doing finger painting.

7. Yesterday we bought ice-cream and  kebab.

8. There were koala and kangaroo products at Eumundi markets.

9. There was Okonomiyaki from Japan.

10. But we didn’t see any Thai food.

Written by: Miyuki, Nopparat and Sophie

Jewellery Making

This afternoon our Lexis Noosa students had a go at making beautiful beaded necklaces.

Finding the right combination of colours and different size beads really enhances the necklace you are making.

Once our students selected the right beads it was time to start creating and styling a necklace to suit them.

Our talented teacher Ciara, educated our students on the steps to take in preparing and assembling the necklace together.

Afternoon Board Games

This afternoon our Lexis Noosa students enjoyed playing board games in our common area.

Game 1

It’s a great chance to meet other students from different classes within our Lexis Noosa school.

Making new friends and having a wonderful time is what Lexis Noosa is all about!!!

How well do you know your classmates?

The students in the writing option were excited to speak, listen and write so they interviewed one another about their  hope and ambitions for the future.  They were asked to describe their personality and things they were good at doing.

Momo and Catarina from Intermediate General English were happy to interview each other.

Momo

I interviewed Catarina. She is 24 years old and from Brazil. She wanted to come to Noosa with her boyfriend but, she couldn’t…

She described herself as kind and she always tries to do things for her friends. She is a very hard worker. When she was in Brazil, she worked as a copy writer and wrote about culture in her job. It means she’s good at writing Portuguese on a computer. On the other hand, she is not good at Maths.

I interviewed Momoko. She is 22 years old and she is living in Noosa at the moment.  She defines herself as a “confused” person because she spends a lot of time choosing something.

She said that her best skill is eating chocolate and ice –cream and also cooking.  She is not good at using computers.

For her, being an engineer is the worst job and a doctor is considered to be a good job in Japan, but she likes animals, so she plans to start her own business, like a farm, in the future. She prefers to work alone or just with a few people. This is her dream job owning her own farm with horses.

Her answer to my surprise question was: “My name. I would like to change to Sabrina”
