We sat down and asked some hard questions of Simona one of our fabulous Homestay Coordinators to find out a little bit more about her.

What Languages do you speak? 

Romanian and English.

I’ll bet you didn’t know that… 

I like to go to the theatre, ballet and Opera.

What places have you lived in?

Romania, London, America and now Australia.

If you weren’t a Homestay Coordinator what would you be?

A yoga teacher.

On the weekend you’ll find me?

At the beach reading a book.

What is Noosa’s best kept secret?  

I’m not telling, you’ll have to find out for yourself.

What is your favourite food?

I love healthy food.

What is your favourite pastime?

Reading a book and working out.

What is your English tip? 

Watching TV/movies with subtitles, it really helps improve one’s English.

What a wonderful way to start the weekend than with a yoga lesson.

A great way to relax and stretch your tired muscles after a long and stressful week of studies.

What Languages do you speak? 

I speak English and Welsh.

I’ll bet you didn’t know that… 

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is actually a name of a town in Wales and it is in the Guinness Book of Records for being the place with the longest name!

What places have you lived in?

I have lived in Wales, Bahrain and Australia but my favourite one would have to be beautiful Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.

If you weren’t a teacher what would you be?

I would definitely be a News Reporter.

What do you like to do on the weekend?

On the weekend you’ll find me on the Noosa River or at the Beach.

What is Noosa’s best kept secret?  

A secret car park in Hastings Street… but I’ll never tell you exactly where haha!

What is your favourite food?

Vegetables and salad.

What is your favourite pastime?

I love exercising and socialising.

What is your English tip? 

Just keep practicing!

Surfs up in Noosa!

This afternoon the Lexis Noosa students made their way down to Noosa Main Beach for an afternoon of surf lessons and a whole lot of fun!

The surf lesson is for 2 hours which includes a safety talk and a quick demonstration on how to paddle and stand up.

Noosa National Park

Will it or won’t it rain? It was a little tricky this afternoon as we were making our afternoon activity plans. The Noosa National Park walk was on the agenda but wasn’t sure if we would make it through the park dry.

But four of our beautiful Lexis Noosa students were on a mission to have an adventure and find some amazing Australian animals and of course have fun along the way!

 

 

Fun in the sun!

Lexis Noosa students spent the afternoon Kayaking and Stand Up Paddle Boarding down the beautiful Noosa River.

Hope you all had a nice cool down swim because it was so sunny and hot this afternoon.

Competition Time

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Lexis Noosa Ping Pong Competition. We had 32 students battle it out for eternal glory at Lexis Noosa but unfortunetly there can only be one winner.

Congratulations to Lyndon for winning our Lexis Noosa Ping Pong Competition! Yeah!!! Second place went to Fabian and third place went to Rafael. Well done boys!!

What a wonderful activity to do after a long day of studing English. A great way to relax, unwind and just have FUN!

Zumba

This afternoon Lexis Noosa students got to join a Zumba class with NoosaZumba’s amazing teacher Nella! Zumba is an aerobic fitness program featuring ovements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music.

The class was filled with plenty of laughs and smiles which shows that Zumba is a fun and exciting way to work out!

Kayaking & S.U.P

This afternoon Lexis Noosa students made their way down to ‘Noosa Boardwalk Boat Hire’ to kayak or stand up paddle their way down the Noosa River. A great opportunity for the students to see a different side of beautiful Noosa Heads.

The sun was out and the students were happy!

Lexis Noosa students spent the afternoon on the beautiful Noosa Main Beach playing beach games and soaking up the amazing sunshine.

Noosa Activities – January 2018

Noosa National Park Walk

What a beautiful day to walk through the Noosa National Park. Our new TAP (Teen Activity Program) students enjoyed their afternoon walk and was even lucky enough to spot a koala relaxing in the trees above.

Yoga

What better way to spend the afternoon than having a relaxing session of Yoga in the park.

Lexis Noosa students had the opportunity to relax, breath and stretch their tried muscles from a long week of learning and practicing their English.

   We hope you all had a wonderful Yoga class and look forward to seeing you on the next activity!

Salsa & Sangria

What better way to end the day than with a glass of sangria and learning to dance the Salsa!

Noelia from our LTTC Business Course and Miquel from Intermediate A class kindly agreed to teach the Lexis Noosa students how to salsa. The dance of love!!

Ping pong competition

Congratulations to Diego. C from Chilie for winning the Lexis Noosa ping pong competition round 2 for November.  Second place went to Jules from New Caledonia and third place went to Fabio from Switzerland.

We had such beautiful weather last Friday for our Noosa National Park walk.

Soccer @ the beach!

This afternoon Lexis Noosa students made their way down to Noosa Main Beach where they enjoyed a game of beach soccer. After a few days of unwelcome rain everyone was super excited to get down to the beach.

What a lovely afternoon it turned out to be. The sun even started shinning!

Lexis Noosa students will be meeting up at KB’s for Glow Party at 9pm! KB’s provides a perfect atmosphere for student night. Loud music, amazing drinks and plenty of dancing. Sign up at reception!

Anyone wanting to try some cider from around Australia? Friday afternoon is the day for you! Sign up at reception to reserve your spot only 30 available!

Surfing lesson

Surfing has been so popular lately that we just had to do another lesson!

This afternoon the students at Lexis Noosa  practiced their surf skills while they got to enjoy the refreshing water.

What could be better then an afternoon at the beach!

Rainy afternoon calls for YOGA!

What to do when it’s gross and rainy you may ask? Lexis Noosa students enjoyed an afternoon of Yoga at the campus. Hope you all enjoyed it and feel nice and relaxed for the weekend.

An afternoon of fun

This afternoon Lexis Noosa students enjoyed an afternoon of fun in the sun playing volleyball. This activity was so busy we had to make five teams! While two teams versed each other the others sat in the sun and watched as they found out who their next opponent was.

Kayaking and SUP

This afternoon the students participated in Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking. A perfect activity to be active, have fun and enjoy with your friends!

The students get to make their way around the canals of the Noosa river checking out the wonderful houses, beautiful nature and enjoying the spectacular views of the Noosa river.

CAE Triathlon Star – Robin Hermann

Huge congratulations to Lexis Noosa’s CAE student, 19 year old Robin Hermann who last Sunday competed in the Mooloolaba Triathlon and achieved second place in his 18-24 age category and placed 43rd overall. Not only is this an outstanding achievement in itself but the icing on the cake is that he has qualified for the World Championships in South Africa in 2018. He started his daily triathlon training 5 years ago and represents Team Koach in Switzerland. Robin said “Everyday I go out and train to reach my goals and this was one of them. My dream came true last Sunday”. His teacher Anne and his classmates are so proud of him and his success. Robin still made it to class on Monday and completed his homework!

Mt Coolum National Park

Wednesday afternoon Lexis Noosa students conquered Mt Coolum. It was a beautiful walk along with smiling and sweaty faces.

It’s a wonderful activity to get the students out of the classroom and into nature to take a walk up one of the Sunshine Coast’s amazing mountains. It is a great opportunity for the students to see some of Australia’s rare and threatened plants, wildflowers and bird life.

The students were happy to see some spectacular coastal views.

The Noosa National Park is home to many Australian animals including the koala, Wombats, Snakes, Dolphins, Whales and Echidnas are just to name a few.
