Healthy Cooking Class: Raw Foods.

Raw and living foods are about being unprocessed, unrefined, and cold pressed and never headed above 44 degrees Celsius. This means that living enzymes in the food remain intact and that your body can easily digest and assimilate every nutrient and deliver them to every cell in your body. This process gives you an abundance of energy and vitality, while feeling nourished, strong and healthy.

In today’s workshop, we prepared Chocolate Cup Cakes and A Green Smoothie.

These non bake cupcakes are made with nutrient dense walnuts and cacao. Walnuts are a great source of omega 3 essential fatty acids which are crucial for heart health as they lower cholesterol levels reduce high blood pressure and improve arthritis and mental health. They are high in amino acid tryptophan which helps make serotonin which is a feel good hormone. Dates give a natural sweetness and are high in minerals, potassium, chromium, magnesium and iron. Cacao is also high in magnesium and iron and contains compounds to boost serotonin in the brain.

The green smoothie is full of nourishing alkaline green vegetables and leafy greens that help improve bone density and serum growth hormone concentrations and also help to prevent muscle wastage. A good diet has always played a vital role in supporting health, which is why it is so important to think about what you put into your mouth every time you eat and drink and whether or not it makes a positive or negative effect to your body.

This workshop was a great introduction to some Healthy Eating Principles, to educate and encourage students to choice fresh and whole foods when ever possible!!!
