ESL visits Lexis English!

Last month we had the fantastic opportunity of showing European based agency ESL a genuine Lexis English experience!

ESL is an international specialist language travel agency. ESL offer study abroad options in more than 160 destinations and help people connect globally with providing language courses for juniors, language schools, adults, internships or courses for executives. To increase their knowledge of Australia and also how each of their representative schools run, ESL arranged a FAM trip to Australia for ten of their staff who represent ESL’s promotion of key regions in Australia. In doing so, the counseling provided by ESL staff to potential students, will be genuine and from true experience.

We were delighted to meet the following ESL staff and appreciated the time they spent getting to know the Lexis English team and our Noosa and Sunshine Coast campuses on their FAM trip.

Gautier Oudot – Regional Manager French part of Switzerland | Juan Pedraz – Regional Manager Spain | Marie Page – Regional Manager Belgium | Olivier Grollimund- Regional Manager Italy | Javier Perdomo – regional Manager Colombia | Sophie Greco – Office manager Paris | Sina Pfau – Office Manager Winterthur | Nadja Moser – Office manager Luzern | Chloé Bourquin – Office Manager Montreux | Christin Schreyl – Office manager Berlin.

Meeting the staff from across ESL’s branches was a special experience and gave us great insight to a student’s beginnings pre-arrival in Australia. We thought it would be a good idea to have the ESL crew explore life as a student once in Australia (along with a little VIP treatment ;-)…

Although we missed Javier in the morning (who unfortunately had to experience what it was like as a student whose connecting flight goes astray along with his luggage), we had a lovely morning welcoming ESL staff to Noosa. After a day of leisure and activities (some who braved the surf, some who spotted a koala in the National Park), we all met for a wonderful sunset cruise and yummy dinner! With no time for jetlag – ESL staff spent their Sunday on a day tour to beautiful Fraser Island. In the evening, chef extraordinaire and also Lexis English’s Managing Director – Ian Pratt, put together an amazing BBQ dinner and drinks, as a get-together for both ESL and Lexis staff. Monday was a busy, but productive day and included campus tours at Noosa and Sunshine Coast, an information session hosted by Ian and student interviews were also held during lunch and in the afternoon.

It was then time to say farewell to our lovely Agents and get them ready for their next stop…Brisbane.

On behalf of all the staff at Lexis English, we would like to thank ESL for this opportunity, wish you all well and look forward to next time!  If you’d like to get in touch with ESL, visit them at

Friday Afternoon Relax

The students of Lexis Noosa have had a busy 2 weeks of activities.  With a soccer match against Maroochydore, Halloween Party, Students nights and a Cambridge boat cruise and BBQ to name just a few. The students took the afternoon this Friday to relax and have a bit of fun in the school and play a spot of table-tennis.  With Tibalt coming out on top an old winner appeared. Vincent then gave what can only be described as a master class. Students just stopped to marvel at what they saw.  It is safe to say that Vincent has a natural ability for the game.

Cambridge students relax after mock exams!

Lexis Noosa CAE classes had a whole day of mock exams. To help ease their day of testing, the school and staff at Backpackers World Travel put together a relaxing sunset cruise followed by a Big, Boozy BBQ!

Beach Soccer

As it seems is always the case in Noosa the sun was beating down as the students headed to main beach for a bit of soccer and sun bathing.

The soccer soon took a turn to the sea and the students attempted soccer skills in the surf. It wasn’t long before they were out of the sea and catching the afternoon rays!

FIFA Tournament

Today some of the students and even staff had a go at a FIFA tournament on the computer…EVENTUALLY!!! after a long time and many hands tried to set up the TV! Just how many men does it take?

The afternoon had a great atmosphere and the students had a great time.  Poor Tim the teacher shall we say…struggled in his first outing of the game and even the computer was heard mocking his lack of skill.

Table tennis

After an epic 2 days of activities including a fantastic inter school soccer match against Maroochydore the students went back to an old favorite and relaxing of table tennis. With pairs of boys, girls and mixed doubles the standard was a touch lower than the usual Noosa standard. We can also put that down to the previous days outings. That is not to say their was any less fun. The chants and cheers echoed around the college.

Halloween Party

Wednesday night the language college opened its doors after hours for the haunting Halloween Party. Students all got dressed in their best costumes and were even joined by a few scary teachers and staff. With the college transformed into a terrifying venue the party started early and went on into the early harrowing hours of the following morning.

I have attended some parties in may time and many costume parties but this was by far in a way the best I have seen. Other staff members there commented on it being the best they had seen. The effort by the students on their costumes was nothing short of magnificent!

I can not wait to see what the next party will bring!!!
