GV Body Painting Activity

GV Noosa students showed their tattoo design ability today but without the permanent ink.

GV Noosa students gathered in the presentation room with paint brush in hand and  proceeded to create tattoo’s on arms and faces that even Angelina Jolie would be proud of. There were names converted in Chinese, Korean and Japanese writing and various animals, symbols and funny face painting. Whilst all the temporary tattooing was taking place at GV, we heard that a student was actually around the corner getting some real ink done! Can’t wait to see it tomorrow.

Girl Power at the Outdoor Games Today

Pinaroo Park favoured the ladies today as students took part in crazy outdoor games for the Friday activity.

The outdoor games were nearly renamed the indoor games today as the clouds rolled over and the rain started to pour down at morning break. Luckily by the afternoon the heavens opened up and blue skies were a perfect backdrop for our outdoor activity. The students took part in traditional Aussie party games such as the three-legged race, wheelbarrow, teabag throwing, balloon back and sack racing. The girls took out the trophy and won themselves a $50 bar tab at the next Thursday GV student night.

GV Noosa Students Have Creative Talent

Todays activity involved painting the official banner for our GV’s Got Talent show which will be held on Friday 02 July 2010 at 2pm.

Around 20 students today took part in painting a letter or adding their own creative piece of art to the GV’s Got Talent banner which looks absolutely amazing. Some students decided to brand a piece of their culture onto the banner so painted traditional symbols and flags whilst others decided to paint what Noosa means to them. So of course a big bright sun, palm tree and beach were an added feature! Thanks to all the students who contributed!

If you have a special talent or would like to show off any skills that you have, sign up for the GV’s Got Talent show on the noticeboard or come and see Cindy at the activity desk. There are some fantastic prizes to be won!

Farewell to our SANG Students :(

Last week the SANG (Saudi Arabian National Guard) students were treated to a personalised movie and power point show for their last day at GV Noosa.

The BIG bon voyage party at GV Noosa kicked off last week with staff members Becky and Nina presenting a heartfelt personalised movie and Powerpoint to the SANG students including interviews and candid photos(!).  A yummy chocolate cake marked with ‘We will miss you’ was given to the Saudi students and shared with all students leaving campus on the same day.

We hope our SANG friends have as much fun in the new Maroochydore campus as they have had in Noosa!

GV Noosa Students Put on their Dragon Faces

Students made dragon masks today to celebrate the Taiwan Dragon Boat Festival.

The GV Noosa students brought out their creative side today and produced some fantastic masks using lots of different shapes and textures. They especially had some twisted fun with the colourful pipe cleaners. The Brazilian ladies made their masks very Rio Carnival with a tribal twist. The Korean students chose bows and colour explosions to create their masks. They all received a little koala souvenir for their efforts.

Celebrate Taiwan Dragon Boat Festival

To coincide with the Taiwan Dragon Boat festival, we are creating our own dragon masks at 2pm in the GV Noosa presentation room on Wednesday.

Seeing as we can’t make a dragon boat, the next best things is a dragon mask!  Join us for some dragon making fun and creativity at 2pm in the presentation room.  The best masks will win prizes!

The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival festival has a long history dating back thousands of years. Duanwu Festival is usually celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar.  This year, it is officially celebrated on June 16, 2010.

The Dragon Boat Festival commemorates the popular Chinese patriot, Qu Yuan.  (Chu Yuan) who in the 3rd century in protest of a corrupt government threw himself into the Mi Lo River in despair.  The locals tried to save him with no luck and so the annual tradition was born.

Make the Most of Winter In Noosa

Unlike many parts of the world that are cold and grey during the winter, Noosa is at its most beautiful.  Blue skies, sunshine and a lovely cool sea breeze – all day, every day!

Test your balance with stand-up paddle boarding, kayak the national park coastline, or learn to surf on an award-winning beach.  If you don’t want to get wet, then why not take the free courtesy bus to Australia Zoo, or head inland on a hinterland day tour to visit the dramatic Glass House Mountains, the quaint town of Montville, or the vibrant Eumundi Markets.

If you would like to book any local tours, or you’d like advice on any other activities, just pop into Tribal Travel (located across from the cinema in The Junction).

GV Noosa Campus Party!

The Saudi Arabian students catered a big lunch for GV Noosa to say one last goodbye.

There was plenty of food, drink and fun at lunchtime thanks to the Saudi Arabian students. Everyone including both staff and students packed the courtyard to say their last goodbyes, take photos and talk about their most memorable moments at GV Noosa.  Goodbye to all the students leaving us today and good luck!

End of Course Party Tomorrow

There will be more than the usual goodbyes tomorrow. Not only do we say goodbye to all our Cambridge students but also to our  SANG (Saudi Arabian National Guard) students, who leave us to move to our school at Maroochydore.

It’s fun to see a new group of students arrive at GV Noosa but it’s always a shame when we have to say goodbye. The group leaving tomorrow is no exception and the campus has very much enjoyed their enthusiasm, humour and fun. So let’s have one last BIG party together here on campus at 11.45am and say goodbye with good food and great company. See you all tomorrow!

GV Noosa World Cup 2010

Pre World Cup fever hit Sunshine Beach oval yesterday as GV Noosa took over and played a great round of football (or as the Aussie’s call it – soccer)!

It was a very competitive match and everyone was certainly on their game. Team captains Dennis and Vince motivated their teams and kept the momentum going. Vince’s team with a bit more luck on their side won the game! And a $50 Noosa Heads Surf Lifesaving voucher to celebrate the team’s victory!
