Welcome to our New Cambridge FCE Students
A big sunny Noosa welcome to our new Cambridge First Certificate students starting this week.
These lucky students have joined an intensive eight week course and will be able to take their computer based First Certificate exams in our brand new Cambridge Computer Suite on August 20th.
Nintendo WII Tornament! Girls against Boys
We had about 10 students get up and bowl their way through our WII bowling tourment with girls playing against the guys. Unfortately (for the girls) the boys won the game. Vladimir was a lethal competitor so the girls never really stood a chance. The prizes were $20 vouchers for Tribal Night at Sogo bar and luckily we had a few spares so the girls could join the boys tonight for a few laughs at the artistic flair of some of our players.
Happy Birthday to the June Babies!
Todays activity was to celebrate the birthdays for all our students born in June.

Two of our special girls celebrated their birthday today with lots of the students from GV Noosa. With a chocolate mud cake, jam donuts and plenty of Aussie Lamingtons, the students gobbled everything up like vacuums. Sparklers and Happy Birthday in English was sung and the students including the girls of honour had lots of laughs.

Laura Gort’s Gift to Future Cambridge Students
Laura Gort enjoyed her Cambridge Proficiency Course so much she wanted to leave a gift for future students.
Cambridge Proficiency and Swiss medical student Laura has given the school her entire collection of English vocabulary cards that she has painstakingly written since high school. They will be an invaluable learning tool for our future students and will be placed in our library.
Laura was full of praise for the CPE course. She said that teacher Merrilyn did a superb job of preparing the group and her and her classmates feel confident of passing the exam. The text books and resources were excellent, her classmates wonderful and the opportunity to spend time on the beautiful Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas was a bonus.
Laura’s only complaint was having her photo taken after a ‘fall’ whilst fooling around with fellow classmates on stunning Fraser Island over the weekend, resulting in a several large grazes on her face. Poor Laura, never mind, we think you are simply beautiful and very grateful for the generous gift.
Surfing by Noosa
Our friends over at Tourism Noosa have put together a great new video about the Noosa Festival of Surfing.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your board and get out there!!!

GV Noosa Students Get Just A Little Bit Fancy!
Students competed in a Masterchef best burger cook off today as their afternoon activity.
Students were provided with several ingredients to create the perfect burger. They had 30 minutes to prepare and present their burger to the GV judges. The burgers were very artistic in presentation and taste of their burgers were diverse. There were vegetarian, sloppy, minimal, Hawaiian, traditional, Korean and just plain weird. There were 5 prize winners who all get to enjoy a few drinks thanks to Tribal Travel tonight at the GV student Monday hangout – Tribal Night @ Sogo Bar.

First Certificate Hot Potatoes
Anne Potter’s First Certificate students were calming their pre exam nerves this morning playing ‘Hot Potatoes’.
Hot Potato is another fun way that our teachers use to help their students learn grammar and vocabulary.
The FCE, CAE and CPE students sit their exams next week and we wish them all the best of luck. If you don’t know how to play hot potato….you will just have to join one of our fantastic Camgbridge courses. The next First Certificate course begins on June 27th.
Giving Students Ownership of Their Learning
Teacher Danielle Clarkson believes her excellent results are due to engaging students in ownership of the ‘grammar’ they are learning.
The focus this morning was ‘reported speech’ and her upper intermediate students took it in turn to facilitate the answers. By using the whiteboard to change active ongoing conversations into reported speech it not only made the lesson more engaging but was providing for visual, aural and social learners alike.
Danielle’s students really enjoy their lessons and feel that they are making great progress.
Each fortnight we have anonymous student feedback and comments for Daniel’s class include; “Danielle is the best teacher I’ve ever met. I always thank her for kindness, smile and passion“. “Having an amazing time“. “We always have a lot of fun in class, Danielle is a great entertainer”.”Danielle is a very good teacher, we can have fun and work and learn at the same time”.

GV Rocks The Noosa School of Rock!
Students visited the Noosa School of Rock today to see what goes on behind the scenes to record a rock song!
Owner Steve Smythe took the students through a tour of the classroom and studio where musicians and artists such as Powderfinger and Wolfmother have assisted students in the past. The GV students who could play instruments were lucky enough to record a song while the others got a lesson in how to record music.
Pool Sharks Attack KBs
GV Noosa students were in fine form today competing in a pool competition held at KBs.
There were smiles and disappointment as each student took their shot to stay in the competition. Slowly but surely the competitors went down from ten to the final two – Patrik and David. Patrik went for the shot and missed which gave David an easy win. Thanks to Tribal Travel David won a guided kayak tour.
